Why This Ministry Is Important
This is an excellent opportunity for Poplar Springs to welcome and minister to families in our community that participate in this Soccer Ministry. What a wonderful opportunity to tell these children and families about Jesus.
Also, many of the families have no church affiliation. Every child will average 2 – 3 people that will watch them play or practice. We will have 14 game/practices that these children/parents will receive a devotion and hear the Word of God.

Make A Difference In Kids’ Lives
Mentally
Make Wise Decisions

Learning the rules of the game, understanding the objectives of play, and experiencing wins and losses equips kids to handle adversity and success in everyday situations. These sports experiences will spark opportunities for PSBC to be a resource and speak into their lives.
Athletically
Improve Physical Ability

Through practices, game play and skills & drills you will be able to introduce, form and strengthen athletic foundations, which are an important element for players and parents. Being in the day-to-day allows PSCB to build relationships and ultimately teach players where their real strength comes from.
Socially
Foster Healthy Relationships

Spiritually
Embrace Life’s Purpose

Players will hear and learn about God’s plan and Jesus’ love for them throughout the season with devotions, character / virtue lessons and the moments that spontaneously arise when people unite to serve others. These intentional times bring players and families together to hear truths from scripture shared by our PSBC team.
How Can You Help?
Volunteers are needed in all capacities: Coaches, referees, field set up, parking, host families, evaluations and game day devotions/testimonies.

Head Coach
Impact the lives of young athletes by volunteering as a head coach! We will be there to support you along the way with all the resources you will need to lead your team. TIME COMMITMENT: 3 hours a week (60-90 minute practice; 1 hour game; 30 minutes – 1 hour prep time)

Assistant Coach
Make a difference by helping the head coach lead the time. TIME COMMITMENT: 2 hours a week (1 hour practice; 1 hour game)

Prayer Partner
We need people who will be committed to praying each week for our season to change lives.

Ministry Coordinator
Assist the league director in ensuring that ministry is conducted and coordinated throughout the sports ministry. It is an important role to make sure sport and ministry are connected and done well.

Advertising
Help us reach more young athletes and the families by making our league known to those within our community. We will provide all the resources you will need.

Evaluations and Orientations Volunteer
Serve as a connection point to the church for parents and participants on a team or a certain practice night.

Host Family
The first impression a family has of their Upward Sports league will be at evaluations. Help make sure our league provides the most exciting and welcoming experience possible. Volunteer to help our league evaluations by running stations, welcoming parents and athletes, and providing directions around the facility. (Evaluations are only held prior to the season. The number of registered participants determines how many hours of evaluation time are needed.)

Game Day Commissioner
You will play a vital role in the sports ministry and game day experience for your league. Plus, you will have the opportunity to engage and interact with participants, parents, and families every week.

Referee
Do you have a passion for the sport and a workoing knowledge of the rules of the game? We need your help to teach the game by enforcing the rules. TIME COMMITMENT: 2-4 hours a week (normally on Saturdays)

Scorekeeper
Help by keeping the time and score for games.
Dear Church Family

Thanks in advance for your willingness to serve. No experience is necessary. Just a desire to reach outward and Share The Gospel. The Upward organization provides us with all the support, tools and training materials to be successful. There are opportunities for everyone to be part of this Ministry. So, age is not a barrier.
